Salkantay Machu Picchu 5 Days 4 Nights

The Cordillera Vilcanota is an impressive range of mountains which include the massive Salkantay snowcapped mountain (6,264 meters) and three others over 6000 meters that you will appreciate while on the Salkantay tour. Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa (B)(L)(D)

We will leave Cusco very early in the morning at about 05:00 am. We will go by bus to Mollepata town (the beginning of the tour) it takes around 3 hours, when we get here we have our first breakfast and arrange our horses, afterwards we walk up for around 3 hours to CRUZ PATA where we will have lunch, after the lunch we start walking to Soraypampa (13,750 ft.), during the trip we will have panoramic views of the majestic HUMANTAY snow capped mountain. Around 5:30 p.m. we will arrive to Soraypampa, where we'll have our first campsite. (The first campsite is the coldest night).

Day 2: Soraypampa – Chaullay (B)(L)(D)

After having a good breakfast at 6:30 am. We will start our trek climbing up to the first pass of Salkantay mountain which is over 16,214 ft. (the highest point), we will be there at around 12:00 in the afternoon, here we will appreciate spectacular views of the mountain and the imposing snowy of Salkantay (22,2371 ft.).
After that, we are going to go down to have lunch in Huayrac Punku, then we continue our nice trail to Chaullay  at 10,428 ft. Where we will have our second night camping.

Day 3: Chaullay – La Playa – Santa Teresa (B)(L)(D)

After breakfast we will leave from Chaullay at 7:00 in the morning, we will pass through Collcapampa town. In this part of the trek we will observe some species of orchids, varied flora, waterfalls and if we are lucky we will be able to observe to the famous one "cock of the rock". After walking for 5 hours we will arrive to La Playa place, where we will have lunch. Later we will take a small truck to go to Santa Teresa town in over 5,875 ft. It is going to be only 50 minutes by truck and arrive to Santa Teresa around 4:00 pm. to camp there. Here we can visit the medicinal hot springs.

Day 4: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes (B)(L)(D)

We get up 7:30 in the morning and after breakfast we will begin our walk for around 4 hours to a hydroelectric power station which is also a small village and train station for this part of the trail, this morning we will also enjoy a warm climate walking along the Urubamba river.

After  the lunch with the whole personnel around 3:00 p.m. we will take the local train to Aguas Calientes town (7,142 ft.) in 1 hour where we spend the night in a hotel.


Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco (B)(L)

This last day after our very early breakfast we will take the first bus towards the Archaeological site of Machupicchu. The tour last  2 hours  exploring the most important places of the citadel with your guide then you will have free time to take pictures or the option for climbing up to the Huayna Picchu mountain enjoying all of Machupicchu. We will have lunch in Aguas Calientes then we take the train back to Cusco city during 4 hours getting to Cusco at 8:30 pm. Approximately.
